Electronic Pioneers: KRAFTWERK

It is no secret that Kraftwerk are house gods for me. I won’t bore y’all by citing their whole career, there are plenty of info on the web, but I will tell you why I think they are important and still highly relevant.

Ever since their inception as a band, in 1969, they have experimented with sounds, new and innovative ways to create sounds. They have also inspired other musicians through the years. Few bands have inspired others as much as Kraftwerk has, and still do.

I personally enjoy their “late” remixes a lot. They are taking something that already exists and turn it into something fresh and new. They constantly reinvent themselves and that is why I love their work so much. I especially recommend the 3D Catalogue to those of you who are new to Kraftwerk. This set is also an excellent exercise music, works great for running. The base and the beat is awesome. Headphones strongly recommended!

Black Line: when great minds collide

I am going to be quite honest, there are few things that excites me regarding new music these days. I feel as if all the good stuff already has been done. But, every once in a while something pops up.

BLACK LINE is a project consisting of members from for example Nitzer Ebb, Skinny Puppy, Depeche  Mode. Got your attention now? Thought so. These bands and musicians are amongst my house gods so Black Line is truly having quite an effect on me! This is epic!

What I find most exciting here is not “only” the new music they are making, it’s the fact that you have people, who already has a solid music career, are willing to experiment and try something new and different.

Black Line is opening for Depeche Mode during their winter tour, so I suspect we will be hearing a lot more from them in the future!
