Briefly about Claws Mail

From having used webmail solutions for several years I have decided to roll back to the old way of doing things; a local email client.
Before I started using webmail I had tested almost every client available for linux and with mixed results. Some clients have been too “old school” and difficult to use, some have [...]

Why I (still) use GKrellM

I love GKrellM and this post is to explain why. GKrellM is - I admit - an “old” program and not many people, especially newer linuxusers, seem to know exaktly what it is.

Some conclusions

I’ve come to the conclusion that gkrellm still is a kick-ass program, that Evolution now is useable (compared to when I last tried it), that my cold still is going strong after two weeks.

One year later..

Wow, almost one year since I updated!
So what’s new? Not much. Life goes on..
I still love to customize my linux desktop though. Here’s a screenshot to feast your eyes on.

Compiz Fusion Screenshots

The Beryl project is now discontinued merged (back) into Compiz = Compiz Fusion.
For help I can recommend these two discussion forums:

Compiz forums

There are some differences between Beryl and Compiz Fusion but nothing that one can’t learn and get used to. Compiz Fusion does have some sexy plugins though and I’m really loving it so [...]

Running Windows inside Ubuntu Feisty Fawn

I’m now *really* enjoying my newly upgraded Ubuntu system. Since I have hardware that supports virtualization I decided to give KVM/QEMU a go and make a virtual windows install inside Ubuntu.
I installed Windows 2000 Professional and can now run that from my KDE/Beryl desktop. The virtual OS has full network support so I can browse [...]

Quick tip: FTP using Konqueror

If you can’t decide what ftp client to use in KDE then try to use the filemanager; Konqueror.
Simply open up two tabs. First one for the local source folder, second one for the target folder on the ftp server. To connect just type the address to the server in the address bar (ftp://ftp.servername.com). You’ll be [...]

Beryl-Themes.org launched!

The KDE-Look.org team has launched Beryl-Themes.org today. The site is organized the same way as the other sister sites (KDE-Look.org and Gnome-Look.org for example). I have been missing something like this and now it’s reality!
