If you can’t decide what ftp client to use in KDE then try to use the filemanager; Konqueror.

Simply open up two tabs. First one for the local source folder, second one for the target folder on the ftp server. To connect just type the address to the server in the address bar (ftp://ftp.servername.com). You’ll be prompted to enter username and password. Once connected go back to your local folder tab. Copy the file you with to upload. Change to the other tab and simply paste it.
